Biography of Peter Jenkins

Peter Jenkins is the Managing Director of Spectra-Medics Pty Ltd, a specialist manufacturer and supplier of medical and veterinary therapeutic lasers since 1996. Spectra-Medics is a Member Company of the Medical Industry Association of Australia.

Peter has represented MIAA on Standards Australia Committee HE-003-12, reviewing “AS/NZS 4173: Guide to the safe use of lasers in healthcare”, and he has previously served as President of the Hornsby and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Having a technical background, Peter is driven to support research that furthers our understanding of the mechanisms of action and the development of technologies to optimise the application of this valuable yet currently under-utilised medical tool.

He is particularly interested in the promotion of laser medicine and photobiomodulation, and in improving the standards of education and resources available to those interested in this field of study and practice.
